What Information Do We Collect?

We collect personal information that You voluntarily provide to Us when You use the Service, contact Us, or otherwise express an interest in Us. Depending on how You use the Sites, that can include:

  • Your Instagram username. We need it to know which account the followers are going to, and to verify that the follows have been completed.
  • Your email address. Used to create and identify Your SocialFollow account.
  • Your name and a SocialFollow account password, if You register an account with Us. That password is for Your SocialFollow account and is not Your Instagram password. If You register using “Continue with Google” instead, We receive the basic profile information Google shares with Us and no password at all.
  • Anything You send Us when You contact support, including the contents of Your message.

All personal information that You provide to Us must be true, complete, and accurate, and You must notify Us of any changes to it.

What We Do Not Ask You For

We do not ask for Your Instagram password. There is no field for Instagram credentials anywhere on this Website, We do not log in to Your Instagram account, and We do not act as You on it. We verify follows by looking at public Instagram profiles from the outside, in the same way any visitor can.

We do not collect payment information. The Service is free, there is no checkout, and We hold no card numbers, bank details, or billing addresses.

These statements describe the Service as it is today. If that ever changes, this Policy will be updated first and the “last updated” date above will change with it.

Information Collected Automatically

We automatically collect certain information when You visit, use, or navigate the Sites. This information does not reveal Your specific identity (like Your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as Your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when You use Our Sites, and other technical information. This is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of Our Sites, and for Our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Public Instagram Information

To run the exchange We read publicly available information from Instagram profiles — Yours, to confirm the follows You completed and to send followers to the right account, and those of the accounts in Our network. We read only what Instagram shows to any logged-out visitor. This is why Your profile has to be public while followers are arriving.

How Do We Use Your Information?

We process Your personal information in reliance on Our legitimate business interests (“Business Purposes”), in order to enter into or perform a contract with You (“Contractual”), with Your consent (“Consent”), and/or for compliance with Our legal obligations (“Legal Reasons”). We use the information We collect or receive:

  • To provide the Service. To create and maintain Your account, to show You the accounts to follow, to verify Your follows, and to send followers to Your Instagram account.
  • To send You marketing and promotional communications, where this is in accordance with Your marketing preferences. You can opt out of Our marketing emails at any time (see “What Are Your Privacy Rights?” below).
  • To deliver and measure advertising. We may use Your information to develop and display content and advertising (and work with third parties who do so) tailored to Your interests and/or location, and to measure its effectiveness.
  • To request feedback and to contact You about Your use of Our Sites.
  • To protect Our Sites. As part of Our efforts to keep Our Sites safe and secure, for example for fraud monitoring and prevention, and to enforce Our Terms and policies.

Other members of the network. The Service works by showing Your Instagram username to other people so that they can follow You, and by showing You theirs. Your Instagram username and the public profile behind it are therefore visible to other users of the Service. That is what the exchange is, and there is no way to take part without it.

Vendors, Consultants and Other Third-Party Service Providers. We may share Your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors or agents who perform services for Us or on Our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. Examples include data analysis, hosting services, customer service, and marketing efforts. We may allow selected third parties to use tracking technology on the Sites, which will enable them to collect data about how You interact with the Sites over time. Unless described in this Policy, We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any of Your information with third parties for their promotional purposes.

How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

No purpose in this Policy will require Us to keep Your personal information for longer than 2 years.
